Antique Tractor Show

Dad, Harvey and I went to the antique tractor show at Theiser's yesterday. Here are Dad and Harvey by a car that looks like it went through a demolition derby. Notice the deer antlers (it runs like a deere).

Christmas time

So we were able to throw a last minute trip together to visit Jana and Jason. While we are here, Kari suggested that Jana and I draw names for Christmas. Since this is our family's off year (to not have Christmas together), it means that each sibbling family will have another sibbling family to buy a family gift for to give for Christmas. I don't remember if there was a limit set before. Jana says that there wasn't, so I don't know how everyone wants to handle that part. We did the drawing this morning and this is what we came up with. I hope this is O.K. for everyone.

Yesterday we went to the Museum of Natural History in D.C. It was over 100 degrees outside, so it wasn't fun to walk from the parking to the museum (parking in D.C. sucks!), but the kids enjoyed the museum. Here are a few pictures to show you what we did. Unfortunately, the musuem was so big that we hardly got to see much of it. Fortunately, that means we will have something to look forward to the next time we come to visit.

summer vacation deuce: part 2

 Now we are in Utah

Happy 4th of July!

 Noah and his cousin, Sterling, did this ALL day on the fourth.

 Noah wanted to see the temple, we enjoyed the day just as our little family in Salt Lake...it was heavenly.

It was good to see them and we had a great time with Eric's family.

We are happy to be home now and happy to be hanging out as a family for the next couple of weeks until everything starts all over again.  We are one more year in this house, so if you are desirous to visit, you must do it soon!!

summer vacation deuce : part 1

About 4 days after getting back from Michigan, we left for another vacation-Las Vegas and then Utah.  Vegas was first.

 Eric is excited to be on our anniversary date-we left the kids (OVERNIGHT!) with my sister-in-law.  It was the first time we had done that and it was AWESOME!

 We stayed at the New York, New York and this was made of Jelly Bellies.

Vegas was a blast...then it was onto UT.

virginia safari park

Jason's parents were here this last week and we all went to a safari park. It was a blast! We all enjoyed it. We rode on a wagon and were able to feed the animals from off the sides. We fed bison, camels, llamas, reindeer, ostriches, and more! The camels were notorious bucket thieves, Macie LOVED the llamas, and we saw a bunch a little baby ostriches. So cute!

They also had a mini zoo with tigers, monkeys, reptiles, zebras, and birds. I spent quite a bit of time at the condor pen talking to some of the workers there. They are trying to breed a new pair of birds. I once did a report on the endagered condors in middle school, and have always been kind of interested. They are HUGE! Anyhow, it was a really fun trip. Just the type of crazy fun Jason's dad loves to have with his grandchildren. It was a blast, we'd totally go again.

I stopped off at a "Scenic View" on the drive home from the safari park and took this picture. Just look at where we live!! COME VISIT US!

What's UP?

Since no one has posted to the blog in so long, I thought I would show you what I've been doing in the last week. Dad and I went to the Howell Balloon Fest last Saturday and watched the sky divers land. The balloon launch was pushed back for two hours to wait for the wind to die down and we didn't want to stay that long, so we didn't see the balloons - maybe next year.
Marilyn Crofts, Betsy Bennett and I went to Crossroads Village in Flint last week, it's a smaller version of Greenfield Village, except that the sawmill, lumber mill, and cider mill all work and make stuff that you can buy. We watched a magic show in the opera house there behind the girls after we rode on the Huckleberry Railroad. We really enjoyed the day.
Dad & I and Jim & Joy went to Greenfield Village on July 4th. It was a beautiful day and we all enjoyed it.
Joy made this bird out of an apple. Pretty neat huh? We made homemade oreo ice cream for family dinner tonight. Those of you who weren't here really missed out on some GOOD ice cream. Maybe next time.
