For anyone who has been to and seen my house, here's a question for you. Charlie is busy refinishing our master bathroom. Currently there is a door from our bedroom into the bathroom and then also one from the family room into the bathroom. We are debating whether or not to take out the door from the family room and just have the bathroom be a true master bathroom with only access from the master bedroom. What are your opinions?

It's kind of a weird setup. A lot of the time, bathrooms are sort of centrally located, to reduce the amount of walking from anywhere on the floor. However, your house has a bathroom at each end. Cutting off access to the one will make it a bit more cumbersome for guests on that side of the house, and it may cause a lot more traffic through the kitchen since that's the only route to the bathroom.
Do you want the extra wall space in the living room? Or more privacy for the bathroom?
My thought was the same as Kurt's, are you going to change the layout of the bathroom, making it necessary to eliminate the door? If not, it will cost less to just leave it the way it is. When I've been there, I've noticed that that bathroom gets a lot of use on the main floor. Closing it off will mean that more people will go through the bedroom to get to it. If you don't mind people in your bedroom, great! I wouldn't want them going through it if it were me.
Hmmm...tough one. While living there it probably would be nice to keep the door, but I wonder if the resale value would be more if it were a true master. Don't know. Not much help unfortunately.
Just seal it off and make a true master and if the other bathroom by the kitchen is taken, people can run upstairs and use that one-they don't need to go through your bedroom. Give yourselves some luxury, you deserve it.
